Deworming Your Yorkie & Maltese Puppy

Here is a simple way to deworm your puppy.  This is highly recommended to keep your puppy healthy and strong.  All puppies will have intestinal worms during their lifetime and here is how you can deworm your puppy.

All puppies should be dewormed first at of 3-4 weeks of age and continue every 3-4 weeks.  It is suggested to deworm your puppy at least once a month until the puppy is 6 months in age. Deworming can be different for different kind of puppies.  Puppies with increased risk, such as orphaned or abandoned puppies should be dewormed up to 10 to 12 weeks every two weeks and follow normal procedure up to 6 months.  Afterwards, use heart worm preventive medication provided by your veterinarian.

Adult dogs use preventive medication to continue prevention. Infected dogs will worm larvae in their feces.  If they happen to play and dig around the previously feces area, they may re-infect themselves.  If your dog lives and is exposed to a higher level of worms it is suggested to deworm every 3 to 6 months throughout their life.  There are many various kinds of worms and it is smart to consult and seek your veterinarian for help.
